Is everyone in America equal? Is there really no discrimination?

No. Nowhere is the world has it ever happened and it is never going to happen anywhere. Communists tried it but failed miserably. There is a famous saying, "In communism, everyone is equal but some are more 'equal' than others."

On a more practical note, there are protests all over US going on currently, demanding equal rights for black people. They are routinely prosecuted and doled harsher punishments by the government. So many black people die at the hands of police. You can read a little bit about president Obama's hurt when a black teenager was killed by a white person for no apparent reason and he was not even charged with a crime for a very long time. He was charged only when the media pressure became unbearable for the police.
