Because we have forgotten everything that is good about India and are trying to blindly follow the west. So, all our yardsticks are based on comparison with the west. They will keep on changing the "ideal" to suit them and we will always be behind them, trying to follow them.
Is wealth measured only in terms of money? Western people are fascinated by the variety and color of India. Unfortunately, we are trying to homogenize everything and become like the west. All the "humanity" that you find only in India is slowly going away. People have such strong relationships in India. The family structure is very strong, still. People are still respectful to elders. Does that count for nothing?
I wish we stop running blindly after the west and try to measure our wealth only by money.
