Why do investment banks hire engineers instead of people from commerce streams, as they have more knowledge about the sector?

[A2A] They are interested in the input into engineering colleges. They don't care about what you learn in college. Usually, most of the better students go into engineering even if they like other subjects, unfortunately. So, the investment banks which are after "raw" talent go to engineering schools to look for it.
